What’s on the sheet

The top of the page is the name in big outline bubble letters, ready for crayons or markers. The middle row is the same name as plain letters to trace, each stroke marked with a numbered dot where the pencil starts and an arrow for the direction. The bottom shows the four steps from stick letter to finished bubble letter, so older kids can try drawing it freehand.

Capitals or lowercase?

Most preschool and kindergarten classrooms teach a name with a capital first letter and the rest in lowercase, so that’s how the sheet starts. Type the name in all capitals if you want all caps, which is easier for the youngest kids because every capital starts at the top line.

Print a few copies and use one each day. Kids usually go from tracing to writing it on their own within a week or two.
